With this experience extending into the payments industry, ExaDigm is in a unique and advantageous position by having key members of management intimately familiar with, not only the industry as a whole, but with many of the problems and issues facing our key competitors.
Dean H. Cha
Director
Dean founded ExaDigm in 2000 and has over 15 years of marketing, business development, financial and offshore manufacturing expertise.
Prior to founding ExaDigm, Dean was an EVP of Willtech Inc., a wireless (CDMA & GSM) test equipment manufacturer. Prior to Willtech Inc, Dean was an EVP with EZC International, a PC system integration company where he grew the company from 30 employees, one office and $3,000,000 in revenues to 1,200 employees, 12 offices in seven countries and over $770,000,000 in revenues. Prior to his technology career, he was a financial analyst at Bank of America.
Dean holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Economics from the University of California at Riverside.
Brian Gannon
Director
Brian Gannon is a Managing Director and Founder of Dunrath Capital. Mr. Gannon is recognized as a proven investor and operating executive with expertise in private equity, merchant banking and industry.
Previously, Mr. Gannon was a Partner at various investment firms in Chicago. Primary investment segments include security, business services and technology. At these firms, Brian was actively involved in funding and building several businesses fulfilling roles ranging from board member to operating executive. Mr. Gannon has also worked at CS First Boston and William Blair & Company. Mr. Gannon started his career in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry officer.
Mr. Gannon currently serves on several corporate boards, to include Critical Signals Technology, Quantum Secure, ExaDigm and Arxan Technology. He is a board member of the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation (MCLEF) and a founding member of the Foundation’s Midwest organization. MCLEF provides college scholarships to every child of Marine Corps and federal law enforcement personnel killed in action. Since 2001, MCLEF has provided over $28 million in college scholarships.
Bob Geras
Director
Bob Geras is currently President of LaSalle Investments, Inc. and has been a leader in the venture capital community in Chicago for over 40 years. In addition to his role with La Salle Investments, Mr. Geras also serves as President and CEO of Arryx, Inc., a provider of microscopic and nanoscopic holographic laser steering technology to key markets dependent upon miniaturization. Prior to Arryx, Inc., in 1990 Mr. Geras co-founded, and was the largest shareholder of, publicly traded Merge Healthcare (MRGE), the industry leader in eHealth connectivity products for medical imaging. In 1986 he purchased and directly managed MEDX, Inc. a troubled medical equipment company which, in 5 years, he completed a company turn around, selling the company for 26 times the purchase value. Early in his career Mr. Geras co-founded budget motel chain Sixpence Inns in 1970 which was acquired by Motel 6 for over $200 million in 1989.
Mr. Geras is currently a director of, and/or investor in VideoHomeTours, ShowingTime.com, NexVu, 20/20 Technologies, Advanced Diamond Technologies, Intellext, Bias Power, OrthoScan, and PowerQuest Corporation, a leading software developer and technology pioneer which was recently bought by Symantec for $140 million.
A graduate of Northwestern University, Mr. Geras and his wife are the founders of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation which initiated and passed the Illinois Baby Safe Haven Act in August 2001.
John J. McDonnell
Director
John J. (Jack) McDonnell, Jr. currently serves as CEO of Phoenix Managed Networks, having most recently served as Chairman and CEO of ExaDigm. Prior to joining ExaDigm, Mr. McDonnell was CEO of PayLinx, a highly successful payment software company which was later sold to CyberSource. In 1990 he founded TNS, Inc. (NYSE:TNS), a worldwide provider of data communications services for the financial and telecommunications industries which he took public. He served as Chairman and CEO of the company from 2001 to 2006. In addition, Mr. McDonnell is a director of DealerTrack (NASDAQ:TRAK), a leading provider of sales and finance on-demand software for the automotive retail industry; and CyberSource (NASDAQ:CYBS), a leading provider of electronic payment and risk management solutions.
Mr. McDonnell joined the CyberSource board in 2000 following his successful negotiation of the acquisition of PayLinx by CyberSource.
Joe Marchica
Director
Joe Marchica is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Meruelo Enterprises, Inc., a diversified holding company. Previously, from 1996 to 2004 he held a range of senior management positions with Disney Consumer Products, a division of The Walt Disney Company. While at Disney, he served as CFO of Walt Disney Records, Vice President and Controller of Disney Consumer Products, and most recently Senior Vice President and General Manager of the North America apparel business unit; a $2.5 billion in retail sales business unit of the world wide Consumer Products Licensing Division.
Prior to Disney, Mr. Marchica held a range of senior financial roles, including Assistant Controller, with the Taco Bell Corporation, a $4 billion division of PepsiCo. He began his professional career as an audit manager for Price Waterhouse.
A graduate of Santa Clara University, Mr. Marchica holds a Bachelor of Science of Commerce in Accounting and is a certified public accountant.
Alex Meruelo
Director
Alex Meruelo is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Meruelo Enterprises, Inc., a diversified investment holding company. He currently has holdings in commercial and residential real estate, property management, real estate development, construction, and banking. He owns and manages over 1000 residential units, over 20 retail centers, and has overseen over 15 developments.
Mr. Meruelo established La Pizza Loca, a fast food pizza restaurant, in 1986 and which now has over 50 franchised and company owned restaurants serving Latino communities throughout Southern California. Since 1999, Mr. Meruelo has focused his endeavors on the construction industry and, through Meruelo Enterprises, owns a number of established Southern California utility and electric construction contractors including Herman Weissker, Inc., Doty Bros. Equipment Company, Neal Electric and Tidwell Excavating. Through Meruelo Capital, a venture financing division, Mr. Meruelo has holdings in restaurants, food distribution, and technology.
In addition to the ExaDigm board, Mr. Meruelo is also a member of the board of directors of the William Lyon Company, and Commercial Bank of California.
Harry D’Andrea
Director
Harry D’Andrea has served as the Chief Financial Officer for both established and startup companies for over twenty years.
Prior to founding Valhalla Partners, Harry was the Chief Financial Officer for Advanced Switching Communications, Inc. (“ASC”), a telecommunications equipment supplier that he helped take public. Prior to ASC, Harry was the Chief Financial Officer at Call Technologies, Inc. (“CTI”), a start-up telecommunications software company. At CTI, Harry played a central role in preparing the company for growth and for its ultimate sale to 3Com Corporation.
Harry also served as the Chief Financial Officer for Yurie Systems. In this role, Harry was instrumental in the 1998 acquisition of the company by Lucent Technologies for over $1.1 billion in cash. This remains one of the largest technology mergers in the Washington DC area. Prior to Yurie Systems, Harry served as Chief Financial Officer for American Communications Services, Inc. (“ACSI”), a facilities based publicly traded competitive local exchange carrier. Earlier in his career, Harry held positions with Marriott Corporation and Xerox Corporation.
Harry is a member of the Board of Directors of Martek Biosciences Corporation [NASDAQ:MATK], he is also a member of the Nasdaq Stock Market Listing Qualifications Panel, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington chapter of the Private Equity CFO Association. Harry has also served on the Advisory Board of MTECH Ventures, was a judge for the Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards, and was a charter member of the CFO Steering Committee of the Maryland Hi-Tech Council.
Harry received a Masters in Business Administration from Drexel University and a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Service from The Pennsylvania State University.
Harry lives in Potomac, Maryland with his wife and son.
