SANTA ANA, CA, September 18, 2006 - ExaDigm, Inc, the leading innovator of wireless and wired point-of-sale (POS) terminal solutions, today announced the launch of the CDMA/WiFi Modem for the XD2000, a first for the POS Industry. With the launch of the CDMA/WiFi Modem, merchants will now have the ability to switch from cellular to WiFi with a few simple key strokes. No longer will they have the inconvenience of needing to purchase and carry two separate modems or, in the case of other manufacturers, two separate terminals as their connectivity needs change.
ExaDigm is the first manufacturer to offer both CDMA and WiFi connectivity all in one, further highlighting the truly modular design and future-proof technology of the XD2000. This new modem provides merchants with a wireless terminal that is not only completely secure and easy to use, but offers them the convenience of choosing the wireless connectivity that best meets their needs virtually instantaneously. Within seconds, the XD2000 CDMA/WiFi wireless terminal can switch from WiFi to cellular or cellular to WiFi, ensuring the ability to access the wireless coverage offering the best connectivity.
As technology develops and advances, POS terminals must continue to evolve as well. The CDMA/WiFi Modem was created with the understanding that merchants may encounter environments offering multiple wireless connectivity options, or in the case of mobile merchants, move between environments where wireless connectivity options change. For those areas where WiFi connectivity is not available, merchants will now have the capability of switching to cellular to complete the transaction and similarly in those areas where strong WiFi coverage exists, merchants using cellular will be able to switch to WiFi not only for better connectivity, but to reduce the usage on their cellular data plans.
