ExaDigm Launches Industry-First RFID Combo Modem Series

Las Vegas, NV - (ETA Meeting and Expo, Booth #553) - April 16, 2007 - ExaDigm, Inc., the leading innovator of wireless and wired point-of-sale (POS) terminal solutions, today announced the launch of its new RFID Combo Modem Series at the Electronic Transactions Association's 2007 Annual Meeting and Expo in Las Vegas. Attendees can preview the new modems and see a full demonstration at the ExaDigm Booth #553.
The RFID Combo Modem Series, available with WiFi, CDMA or GSM connectivity, are fully compatible with ExaDigm's 2000-Series mobile point-of-sale terminals which include the XD2000 and XD2100SP. The Series represents true innovation because, when combined with one of the 2000-Series terminals, the unit becomes the industry's first mobile point-of-sale terminal with a fully-integrated certified RFID reader. The pointer-held mobile devices will benefit processors, merchants, and especially consumers who will be able to quickly and securely pay for purchases in settings like fast-food vendors, stadiums, drive-ups and at-home delivery sites by merely tapping their credit card or key-fob to the pointer-held device, and not completely surrendering the card as in the past. The modems seamlessly and easily attach to the pointer-held terminals, so mobility isn't compromised for the acceptance of RFID card-based payments.

Security is key in the contactless realm, and like all of its point-of-sale terminal products, ExaDigm has ensured the new modem series features the highest levels of security possible. "ExaDigm's terminals are some of the most secure on the market today. Our terminals protect the transaction from the start - right at the time of card swipe, or in the case of contactless card tap - with up to 1024-bit SSL encryption, ensuring we exceed most if not all industry standards," said Mulcahy. "When that card is swiped, every piece of data is immediately encrypted to the same level as, say, transactions completed through online banking."
The card associations have taken notice and given their official approvals. All modems in the series feature a fully certified RFID reader having met the exacting hardware and software requirements relating to RFID payment acceptance as set forth by the associations. In addition, ExaDigm's terminal software application has received VISA CISP PABP validation, having met VISA's security requirements for the protection of cardholder information. The XD2100SP has been PCI PED approved, ensuring the PINpad on the device has been lab-tested and is officially deemed secure to the highest levels for any PIN-based transaction.
